Every generation faces opportunity to look into their future and decide how they will approach the unknown. Ours is no different. If you’re a glass-half-full-type, then you may believe we’re facing a future in which man is relieved of its mortal encumbrances by machine. If you’re a cynic, then, well, the mass adoption of artificial intelligence is an insult to man’s boundless imagination, and should be regulated, optimized, trained, and leashed.
What about the middle path? A world where man and machine work in harmony, and humanity (and all its wild and weird creations) are elevated for its inherent human-ness.
In this set, we walk that path together by celebrating man’s musical expression beginning with the stark and stunning purity of tenor opera vocals and ending in a crash course in the computer-aided complexities of progressive electronica.

This program was created in collaboration with two artificial intelligence programs on April 26, 2023. At first glance, the images and descriptions appear to be typical of our music night programs and reflective of the artists and sounds which they're referencing. Look more closely and you'll discover the limitations and resulting oddities of current AI tools and why a discerning human eye will forever be our most valuable "tool."
